Prepare Your Pelvic Floor For Childbirth

Prepare Your Pelvic Floor For Childbirth

This small group workshop is for expecting women including first timers, moms who have already experienced pregnancy or birth, women planning a vaginal or Caesarean birth, those hoping for a VBAC, and women hoping to start their family soon.

We desire to see women come out of childbirth intact, both physically AND emotionally. Our hope is to help prevent pelvic health problems before they start.  We also want to  and let this new generation of mamas know that, with the right supports, they can thrive and function really well after having baby.

A number of pelvic health issues such as incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, and pelvic pain can be traced back to the experience of pregnancy and childbirth.  And yet many of these pelvic health challenges can minimized - possibly even eliminated - with key knowledge.  AND with an opportunity to learn and practice evidence-based birthing skills before the big day.

There is so much research showing that pelvic health preparation helps to improve birth outcomes for both moms and babies.  So we know this stuff works.  The only question now is, are you going to be the one to benefit?

If so, get ready to prepare your body, mind, and heart for an empowered birth.

Goals for the day.

Our full day workshop has 3 big objectives:

1) To equip you with knowledge that can alter the trajectory of your pelvic health before and after giving birth. It is all about being pro-active and informed with scientific evidence that supports positive birth outcomes.

2) To provide you with really practical strategies that will help you during labour and delivery (both physically and mentally) - particularly with a view to prevent and minimize pelvic health issues.

3) You may not realize this yet but childbirth is only the beginning (!!!). Postpartum recovery matters a lot too.  We will discuss postpartum rehabilitation of your pelvic floor and core so you understand how to optimize your healing - whether or not you birthed vaginally or by c-section.

Basically, this super unique class will cover all the things you ought to know about labour, delivery, and postpartum but are not taught in traditional prenatal classes.

Meet Your Coach

Hi there - I'm Ibbie and I will be your facilitator for this workshop.

To say I'm excited to once again be offering this class is an understatement.  I absolutely love teaching expecting moms about their pelvic health and how they can best prepare for the big day.  This is hands down my favourite workshop to run and I hope you'll come along for the ride.

 A bit about me:

I have my Master of Science in physiotherapy with over 12 years of experience in rehabilitation.  I have been working in the pelvic health and perinatal world for the last 7+ of those 12 years, and I'm also in the process of getting certified as a doula.  I've treated hundreds of women and I speak, teach, and run a few businesses - one being The Mama's Physio.

I'm married to an amazing guy and together, we have four little kiddos.  My oldest is 6, my youngest is 6 months.  Yep, we had them all quite close together and I'll share the rather interesting birth stories in person.  And even though I've had 4 children in under 6 years, I'm very happy with my current pelvic health and function.

I attribute my birth outcomes to my knowledge as a pelvic health physiotherapist (and honestly, a lot of grace too).  Yet much of the knowledge that I applied to my own births is not rocket science.  It's fairy intuitive information/strategies that are simple, evidence-based, and effective.

But you can't apply what you don't know.

And that's the whole point of this workshop!

Getting pregnant, having a baby, and transitioning to motherhood is one of the most profound experiences you will ever have.  It is a powerful, life changing rite-of-passage. And you play an integral role in creating, sustaining, and bringing forth life - a full independent human being.  If that hasn't hit you yet, just sit on that truth for awhile. It will.

You're so important in this whole process.

Your physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health matters.

This is why I'm so passionate about equipping women with birth knowledge and skills they will need - to not just survive but to hopefully thrive during this awesome, messy, exciting, overwhelming, game-changing, and wonderful stage of life.

If you want to be pro-active, build your capacity for an empowered childbirth, and recover well postnatally, then please join other mamas like you and Prepare Your Pelvic Floor For Birth.

Hear What Other Participants From Past Workshops Have To Say

Participants were invited to provide feedback via an anonymous survey.  Here's what some of them shared:

The workshop was truly a fantastic experience and has left me feeling more prepared for what is to come in future months! I feel armed with more information and ready to discuss with my OB some of my wishes for labor/delivery.

That’s the better word for how I feel at the end of this weekend’s workshop!

Thanks for sharing your personal experiences with us.  It made you easy to relate to and genuine.  It also made the upcoming joys and challenges feel real, but manageable.

I really loved how the session was divided into 3 sections: pregnancy, childbirth and post-partum.  All are related, but it was good to discuss each part of the process in detail and I have lots of material to review as I go through this and its a great jumping off point for discussions with my partner.
